Technology plays an integral role in every-day life in the 21st Century, so it is important for our classrooms to reflect that! Utilizing technology in our learning environments not only engages students, but also promotes and provides differentiated instruction, allowing for each student's individual needs to be met. My students will use these iPads to reinforce and enhance critical academic skills across all content areas. With this technology, students will have access to online-learning programs directly aligned to our school-wide curriculum. Through these programs, students work on enhancing math skills, reading fluency and comprehension, and critical thinking skills. These programs are also designed to meet the needs of each student in the classroom. As of 2018, 16% of Philadelphia households lacked internet access. This percentage is the fourth highest of all major U.S. cities. While some students may not have the opportunity to engage with technology use in their homes, utilizing technology in our classrooms will provide them with increased opportunities each day at school. This use of technology in our classroom will create exciting, effective, and individualized learning opportunities for all students, allowing each student in the class to be successful!
