In the midst of our current cultural climate, I feel called to find my place in the work of anti-racism. Like all primary teachers, I spend time in January doing this work around the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday; but starting this school year, I would love to more intentionally weave conversations of diversity, empathy, and equity into everyday school life. Purchasing these rich, diverse read aloud books and putting them in front of my little readers will be so powerful. With your help, I will be better able to expose my students to new perspectives, cultures, and experiences. This, in turn, will help shape young hearts and minds toward compassion, justice, and peace.
