I want to build well-rounded students who better understand the world around them. My students need updated multicultural books to keep learning about kindness and acceptance. They also need books where they see themselves represented by the characters. With a very diverse class of students whose families are from all over the world, it is nice when the students have characters who look like them and that they can relate to. Donations to this project will help me update my library to include even more great multicultural books and books about inclusion. By reading and discussing this literature, we will grow kindness, grow empathy, and build our understanding of different cultures. A subscription to Scholastic Magazine will keep us up to date on current affairs and we will be able to use the school’s restorative practice approach to discuss these issues.
