We are consistently looking for ways to improve. A few years ago, we implemented Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). During this time, we used a program called Class Dojo to monitor and celebrate the appropriate behaviors demonstrated by our students. Recently, some our teachers had an opportunity of a lifetime to visit a world-renowned school in Atlanta, Georgia, Ron Clark Academy (RCA). RCA is known for its engaging and innovative methods of teaching. One of the methods they use for PBIS is the House System which they describe as, "The House System is a dynamic, exciting, and proven way to create a positive climate and culture for students and staff". There are four different houses in the House System. Each house focuses on different life skills such as friendship, courage, bravery, and success. The House System real-time data displayed on television monitors around our school will foster a culture of success for all students. At the beginning of the year, each student will spin "The House Wheel" to find out what house they will be placed in. The students will forever be in the house while at PES. Students will become experts on the skills that their house focuses on while also learning the skills of the other houses. Like Class Dojo, the RCA House System comes with a way to track appropriate behaviors. The students will earn points for their house and themselves throughout the year. The houses will compete against each other for the most amount of points. To implement this program, we will need to fund the start-up cost of $1600. This will pay for the televisions to display the House points in real-time. Please consider donating to make our school even more successful!
