Learning happens through inquiry which is achieved through sensory experiences. Montessori materials are a gateway to enrich student learning in all areas, specifically in math. The vision for my classroom will be for students to have ownership of their learning and foster critical thinking when it comes to problem-solving. Students will be presented with high quality, materials that will manifest what they learn in the classroom. These materials will be a building block in cementing their skills. In addition, these materials offer opportunity for collaboration among students and allow the teacher with an informal formative assessment on student levels. The rug is the hub of all learning. Students learn best when they are engaged and active participants. Therefore this will become a place of collaboration, community building, and nurturing curious minds. I hope you are able to take a leap of faith and help students be able to reach their highest potential.
