I am a general music teacher for grades K-12. I am losing my classroom, and I will be teaching from a cart next year, and will not be able to transport xylophones, and other big percussion instruments for the students to play. I think Ukulele's will be transportable, and will be a great instrument for the students to learn to play. The Ukulele is a great way to teach a lot of musical concepts in a fun, engaging way. Rhythm, harmony, expression and more can be taught in various units. Students learn to make music on their own, and with others in a group setting. While it is such a fun instrument, it is truly a venue for teaching music literacy. Many of my students will not be able to afford to buy a Ukulele, This donation will allow me to have a supply at school for all to use. It will allow all students equal opportunities to become musically literate. It will allow me, as an educator to have a tool to take with me to the classrooms that will make music engaging and fun.
