My most important job as a reading teacher is to cultivate a love for reading in all of my students. Students who love to read, READ. These colorfully illustrated, humorous tales will immediately appeal to a 9-year-old's sense of the ridiculous and they will be hooked! These picture books will be perfect for engaging my most reluctant readers. The parodies will be used in interactive read alouds, mini lessons, whole and small group instruction, and as book choices for independent reading. I know my students will be excited to discover these new spins on their old favorites and I'm confident that this library of books will help me bridge the extra large reading gap we will be facing this fall.
