If come Fall, the lockdown continues, students will cycle use of these books for pleasure reading in Spanish. This will be a challenging prospect during the pandemic, however, the benefits of this project will carry over into in-person schooling as well. According to studies performed by the famous linguist, and educator, Stephen Krashen, "We acquire spoken fluency not by practicing talking but by understanding input, by listening and reading." Language acquisition, whether at home or in the classroom does not come from a teacher instructing about rules and teaching words to a group of students, this is commonly referred to as the "grammar-translation method" or more commonly "drill and kill". Rather acquisition of another language comes from surrounding students with comprehensible content, both spoken and written. This supplement to my student library will be an enormous step forward to helping my students immerse themselves in this literature that is specifically written to the end that students become familiar with how to read in the target language all while engaging them in stories that will make them want to continue past the assigned times
