Growing Sixth Grade Leaders will use the book Leadership for Students: A Guide for Young Leaders in a leadership book club throughout the school year. As a part of their leadership attire, the lanyards and backpacks will provide a sense of team continuity during school and community events. At the end of the school year, student leaders will use trifold presentation boards to showcase their leadership journey during a culminating leadership conference. These materials will make a difference in my students learning by supporting their ongoing leadership training, establishing team comradery, and creating presentation confidence. The book will be a consistent resource used throughout the school year during monthly leadership meetings. Each student will meet frequently with a mentor teacher who will guide them on their leadership journey. Monthly lessons will focus on developing leadership skills, growing as a leader, and self-reflection as a leader. Engagement from the community includes parent volunteers, positive high school role models, and a nonprofit organization that supports developing students as leaders.
