COVID-19 is making school pretty interesting this year. While it has challenges, I am excited about the opportunities that my students are getting throughout the chaos. My students, who come from low-income homes, finally have their own devices to use at school! My district has been working hard to get every student their own laptop - and they all finally have a new laptop! Try as they might, second graders aren't always the most careful with their new devices. Because we may need to return to virtual learning at any point, the kiddos need to bring their computers back and forth each day. They need laptop sleeves to help keep these devices safe! Because of COVID closures, all students across the country are behind benchmarks. My students are no exception, and student engagement will be key in helping them re-engage in learning. My project also includes items to help with student engagement and in-person lessons. Chart paper, fun pens for students to use with writing, and headphones to help students focus on their own technology learning are paramount in helping them stay engaged.
