During the 2020-2021 school year, I have tentatively been assigned a 4th and 5th grade combo class. I will be teaching both grade levels all subject areas including reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. The Center for Disease Control released their strict guidelines for reopening school in the fall. I want to provide the best education to both grade levels regardless of where our learning happens: either in school or at home. My goal is to break down barriers that would prevent learning, and build bridges that allow all students to learn, regardless of the circumstances. I teach in a county that has provided one-to-one devices for all students, so we have a perfect setup for purchasing an online tool to support teaching and learning. The two programs I am requesting, Nearpod Platinum and Brainpop, are loaded with multi-leveled pre-made lessons that give both the students and myself immediate feedback. These programs will allow my students to learn across any barrier they may have, including the COVID-19 pandemic.
