I am a K-5 special education teacher and I want to help my students develop 1) a greater interest in reading, 2) improved literacy skills and comprehension and 3) increase vocabulary and syntax levels. It's my hope to enhance my students' abilities to operate all forms of technology that currently exist in our society that is as diverse as my students. With new laptops, students will be able to access e-books while reading along with the accompanying picture book. My students are in need of new laptops and headphones to complete our computer center. Our current laptops are outdated and provide little to no access to many online activities and reading materials. I want my students with Special Needs to be able to function to the best of their ability in this globally competitive era just as well as their peers. Many of my students have had exposure to an iPad, making such a technology/learning center both interesting and relevant to them. If my students had new laptops and headphones, they could then access the files, listen, and follow along with books of their choosing with ease. I'd love to see my students benefit through the use of modern technology. #ExtraYardForTeachers2020
