Right now I have access to one classroom set of each of the books that my students read each year. That means we spend a lot of our precious classtime just reading text. A lot of learning activities have to be skipped or sent home, where they are much less effective. Our department team has a goal to flip our classrooms next year to maximize the instructional time we have with students in school. Flipping our classroom will free up classtime for more effective and engaging learning, but we can't do it without more copies of the books we read. When each student is given a copy of the book, they'll be able to accomplish their reading during their flex time or at home. This means less homework and more learning. It also means we'll be able to continue reading in a distance learning environment.
