When my students age 3 began school in September they did not know how to hold a pencil. I introduced watercolor painting and still picture drawing to excite them as well as a tool to teach them how to hold writing materials. Every time that we have an opportunity to choose an activity, my students always chose to draw on a dry erase board or to watercolor. I did not imagine that drawing and painting would propel my students to love the arts and to strengthen their fine motor skills at the same time. These activities have also been beneficial to those students who lacked self-regulation.
