Working collaboratively in small groups is vital to understanding math. Being part of a teacher-led small group helps my students progress academically as well as socially. It gives them the much needed opportunity for personal interaction that whole class instruction sometimes lacks. One of our county's main focus points for Math is to incorporate teacher-led small group activities into daily classroom instruction and having a markerboard table they can write directly on will make this fun! Each of my four classes range from 28-32 students, leaving very little "extra" table space for an additional group but this type of table would be worth making the space. I am excited about adding the element of a table where my students could work a problem, make mistakes, erase, grow, and learn "write" in front of them!
