When children are hungry, they cannot learn. They constantly focus on when their next meal might be. Food is a basic need, and many of these children do not get that basic need met. It's hard to imagine that, in this day and age, children go hungry. Unfortunately, as a teacher we see this too often. It breaks my heart when these children have anxiety about their next meal. Friday and school holidays are the worst. They know they may not eat for a few days. These children are our future, and they have so much potential. I am requesting snacks for my students. In addition, I am requesting a gift card from Teachers Pay Teachers to help provide my students with effective and engaging instruction.
