Access to a variety of leveled books in the classroom is key to establishing a love of reading for my first grade scholars. At this age, they are curious and eager to learn new things. If I can connect them with stories that peak their interest, it makes learning to read fun and exciting. It makes coming to school something to look forward to. My current classroom library is very cozy. I have a lots of pillows and a soft carpet, but not enough books to keep my scholars interested for the entire school year. Funding this leveled-library will allow my scholars access to books on their level and will encourage independent reading. More importantly, this project will help foster a life-long love of learning.
