Four Maine visual art teachers are working to create Traveling Kindergarten Learning Level Printmaking Kits in support of our district’s exciting curriculum. As the 2020-2021 school calendar year is being planned, many of our visual arts budgets have been falling prey to the impact of COVID-19. Please assist us as we continue to strive for equity within the Kindergarten level printmaking supplies of our district. 1 shareable resource natural studies printmaking kit with the requested ink, rubber stamps, and foam rollers will be created to highlight the life of Maine’s cold and warm water fish utilizing Gyotaku Fish Stamps and our Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Online Resources. This kit will travel to all 6 elementary schools; and, provide an engaging Kindergarten printmaking experience to each and every one of our early elementary students! Our visual arts program will utilize the Traveling Print Kits as a means to integrate literacy and science curriculums into our visual arts program as we also strive to continue creating art for art’s sake in care for the social emotional well-being of every Kindergarten student. As we return to art studios within public schools all across the nation, please help us close the gap and provide a creative learning environment that will incorporate any concepts necessary in order to capture the time lost during this shortened school calendar year. This project has been inspired by National Art Education Association Convention 2020 presenter and Metro Nashville Public Schools Elementary Art Teacher, Tina Atkinson.
