One of the defining characteristics of all early childhood classrooms is a wide range of materials for children to manipulate in order to learn new ideas and concepts. Young children need hands-on experiences to learn. The COVID-19 pandemic has robbed my little learners of the materials they need to keep learning. My little learners will use the hands-on materials in their learning kits for a variety of activities including homework assignments with their families and whole-group activities during our regular class Zoom meetings. These learning kits will allow my students to name letters and practice letter-sound correspondence using the Wikki Sticks and letter cards. They will be able respond to read aloud comprehension questions in their draw and write journals. They will be able to practice math concepts with their magnetic numbers. And my students will be able to use their white boards and markers to respond in writing during our Zoom class meetings.
