The overall goal of the sensory area is to help students with self-control in order to reduce student anxiety and restlessness. We believe the sensory experiences can help calm minds, bodies, and hearts so all students can be successful learners. The items that I am requesting such as the weighted blanket and other weighted animals will help with sensory breaks for those students that need frequent movement breaks, channel their energy, regulate emotions, and improve concentration. The tools can be used for fine motor skills, calming pressure, tactile exploration, and stimulate muscles. The area will provide a calming environment with controlled stimuli which will help the student soothe, focus, and organize.
