3rd grade is a pivotal year in the life of a reader! Many of my students discovered or deepened their love of reading this year through our shared class read alouds, Media Center events at our school, and their independent reading time. They have also been motivated by the joy and satisfaction of meeting their personal reading goals. I hope to keep their love of reading alive over the summer (and avoid the summer slide!). My goal is to make sure that every one of my students has this book in their hands so that together we can start the summer off as strong readers! I have chosen one of the books from Florida's Sunshine State Young Reader's Award (SSYRA) list so that we can share in this summer reading journey together. Our school's media specialist plans many special events related to these SSYRA books; students will have an extra incentive to read this book in preparation for the coming school year's activities. This is also a way for us to stay connected as a class family, even from afar!
