With these materials I will be able to give the students in our classroom more of a choice with how they will be able to learn. Allowing students to be able to make the choice of where they sit makes them feel more in control of their own learning. I know that students learn in all different types of ways. Sitting in a desk or a chair for hours on end can make even the best of us feel uncomfortable and disengaged. With these different seating options we are allowing the students to stay engaged and focused on the material. We are allowing for students to feel like they can get up and move around while still learning! At our school we are pushing for more of a safe and welcoming environment. Having the students feel more comfortable makes them feel safer. When students are safer they are more inclined to follow directions and feel more comfortable in the classroom setting. Flexible seating is a great way for our students to work on their conflict resolution skills and how to kindly solve a problem. Please help us take this first step to make our students feel like they are in their most comfortable environment.
