Chromebooks will drastically change the way I teach drama. Rather than wait for a turn in the shared computer lab, my students will be able to access digital curriculum and resources every day! Chromebooks would allow me to add a richness to my lessons in terms of added opportunities for creative collaboration, research, and theatrical design. Plus, they would be essential to helping students complete work from other classes when they come to work in my classroom at lunch and after school. It is undeniable that students need access to computers to be successful in school, especially those who do not have this privilege at home. When our school closed due to COVID-19, it opened my eyes to how many of my students don't have access to a computer at home. We lent out every laptop our school had, and it still did not cover every family. And as we begin to plan what next year will look like after the stay at home orders are lifted and we are able to return to our classrooms, I expect a lot of changes will be necessary to give our students the best education we can in these uncertain times, including increased opportunities for distance learning. It is safe to say that as a drama teacher, I was not prepared for my entire class to go online. I am a performance-based class after all! But I am working to expand my digital curriculum to get my students what they need. With access to Chromebooks, my students will be able to increase their access to different aspects of the curriculum that they could not before. We appreciate your help!
