As a teacher, I strive to incorporate technology in my instruction as often as possible, but I also need to teach my 5 year olds how THEY can use technology independently in preparation for their technology-driven future. We do not have computers in our classroom, so having an Apple MacBook Air laptop will teach and improve computer skills as well as encourage my students to learn how to type. Programs installed on the laptop will be beneficial in introducing new skills, teaching spatial and logical skills, stimulating language comprehension, and promoting problem-solving skills. Teaching computer skills increases self-esteem and self-confidence in young learners. There are so many online education programs and websites that can greatly improve student performance in the classroom. I believe it will greatly enhance learning in my classroom and will help my little sponges become more comfortable with learning new things online as they become my little technology-savvy sponges!
