This collection of books will be used as weekly mentor texts for my students. These mentor texts will provide the means to teach all reading skills and strategies. Research has continuously shown using picture books to teach allows students to make deep and meaningful connections. These texts become a bridge between reading/writing and listening/speaking. Students interests increases and students engage background knowledge, as well as gain new understanding. These mentor texts will provide opportunities to enhance and enrich learning experiences in the classroom. Books are the most important teaching resources I have!
