Clean, deionized water is used throughout our science department. Currently, we buy gallon jugs to complete science experiments and that takes time, creates an ongoing cost and creates waste. The clean water created through reverse osmosis will be used to create laboratory solutions without contamination from dissolved solids, minerals, bacteria, mold, and viruses. Clean water will ensure the quantitative nature of our experiments can be carried out to a higher degree. With this equipment science teachers in the building will be able to spend the time currently used to write requisitions, travel to the merchant, store and retrieve the water jugs to set up and tear down quality labs. In the long run, department money will be saved by not purchasing individual containers of purified water.
