Printmaking can be applied to other mediums such as drawing, painting, ceramics, and sculpture. There are many approaches to the creative process and the creation of prints. I would like to do multi-faceted projects like collagraphs from found and recycled materials to accentuate the point that "art" does not have to take the form of spending hundreds of dollars on art supplies. Some items make art-making easier or more convenient, but art can be made almost any time, anywhere, with almost anything. Monotype prints can be quick and layered with color and other mediums to produce multi-step creations. They work as a great platform for exploring how different materials work together. Relief block printing will be done with older classes. This was the style of printmaking that opened the doors for me. The idea of making many prints from one block gives students an easier option to produce many works of art with variations to give or sell to friends, family & community.
