Students love to be whisked away on a wonderful adventure. They can do this through their own imagination or through the imagination of others. For young readers like my wonderful class of 27 kindergarteners, this is some of their first chances at this experience. I believe that your first few years of education are some of the most important years of development. Will you fall in love with education and continue to yearn for more? Or will you very quickly lose the spark that each child is gifted with? This adventure begins with the special connections a child can find through their love of reading. By donating to my project, you can help children fall in love with reading and never lose the feeling a great book can give to you. Take a second right now and think about your favorite book growing up. It might be one your parents read to you, a teacher read to you, or one you read on your own. We each have a special connection with a book. This book more than likely was from your first few years of schooling. As you grow and develop your favorite book will grow and develop with you. My goal as a kindergarten teacher is to help each child find their inner voice to create that connection with a book. In our first years of school, we are learning to read. As we continue on we then develop the skill to read to learn. When we are learning to read if we do not listen to fluent readers we can struggle to find our inner voice. Help my students find their inner voice through a listen to a reading station within our classroom.
