Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. My students have such a desire to move around and choose where they work best. Our current classroom set up does not allow for students to all be able to make those choices. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. When my students do get the occasional chance to work where they want they almost always make good choices about where they sit and are more engaged. Research has shown that students are noticeably more engaged in their learning when they are given a choice of where to work. The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The wobble stools will work in multiple table settings, allows students a small range of movement. These will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to get the wiggles out. The stools are going to allow students an alternative seat that is more stable. They are lightweight and can be easily used in many areas of the classroom. The ottomans can be used as both a seating option or a table option, if students sit on the ground. They can be moved around the room or put together to make a large seating area. Lastly, the rug will be the vocal point of our classroom. It will allow me to have whole group instruction and dismiss them to work in a seat of their choice. I have seen how choice can positively affect my students and hope that the additional options will help us grow.
