One of the things that I've learned while teaching is students learn in a variety of ways. Some enjoy working at desks while others like having the freedom to move and sit in a place where they are comfortable. I find that when students are given the choice of where to work, they are more productive. Having a couch in our classroom would provide that opportunity to a variety of social, emotional needs. Giving my students a comfy couch will open up another flexible seating option for my classroom. The addition of a couch to our classroom would make a great space to work independently or with a partner.
