In our Kindergarten classroom we do a new art project everyday based on what book we read together during reading time. This is a wonderful opportunity to grow their creativity as well as their understanding of the book. It is very important to have hands on time everyday for this age group of students. My class size is usually around twenty students, we strive to create a positive classroom environment. This is done by working together on art projects, the students learn how to communicate with one another by sharing ideas about the project. For example, when we read the Very Hungry Caterpillar we will create caterpillars out of egg cartons. We will use the paint, googly eyes, and pipe cleaners that we are looking to get by the donations. We will then retell the story using the caterpillars we created.
