The students will use the 3-ring binders to create personal, interactive math notebooks. Interactive notebooks encourage students to organize their thinking and their materials, develop study skills, and become independent learners. The students and I will build and organize these notebooks with notes, foldables, vocabulary, anchor charts, and sample problems. When students are stuck or need help, instead of me doing the thinking for them, each student will have his or her own personal math reference guide to look back at and assist in figuring out the problem. This project will encourage students to take ownership of their learning.
