My biggest goal is to instill the love of reading and writing in my students. We hold a parent night every fall to introduce students and families to our school. I plan to turn this night into a Literacy night filled with developmentally appropriate games and activities that children can play and enjoy at home with their families. I created a giant magnetic refrigerator door out of cardboard to show games that can be played in the kitchen with simple magnets! I have cookie sheet games and mixing bowl sorts for the kitchen as well. My hope is that parents, grandparents, caregivers and children will play together and see how much fun learning can be! I plan to have make-and-take areas as well as some pre-made games to show all types of activities that can enhance early learning.
