This project will create and mimic reading and learning environments of collegian status, preparing our students to become college and career ready. This project will support Social Emotional Learning initiatives, where students will be able to start their day off with a cup of juice, coffee and a small bite to eat. This year we're presenting an executive office atmosphere to show students a diverse cultural experience. Poverty can be unbelievable and the stories the students tell can seem so unreal. Some of the students never witnessed success in the classroom due to their home environment, and they don't see a future. However, we're looking to change the environment of the school this year so the students can see the future. The Keurig, coffee and tea is going to allow us to present the executive office to the students in such a creative way. My students come in the early morning for study hall. I prepare a small breakfast for the students. Sometimes they don’t have enough to eat the night before. Sometimes they need something hot to drink to get their day going. My students come from low-income families. They are always in need of something warm in their systems. They are being raised by elderly grandparents or some of them are homeless and living in shelters. I want to always be there for them. I want them to come to the media center for warmth.
