Adding a boom microphone to my classroom will provide enhanced learning opportunity for the remote students. Currently the sound delivered to students at home is coming from our built in microphones on our laptops which face away from the areas I teach in part because of cable restrictions. The proposed boom microphone will be permanently placed in the front/center of the lecture area picking up sound from my students and me. The accompanying wiring will allow for this simple placement. In order for the students at home to more readily participate in classroom discussions it is essential that they not only hear the teacher but also their classmates. The new boom mic and table stand will ensure this occurs.
