We have 31 students in a hybrid alternative learning environment. These students come from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. Most are low income and have no books that are age-appropriate within their homes. Books open a window into a life other than the one you live. My students live in a rural area that lacks diversity. With more reading options that focus on stories that differ from my students' own experiences, I hope to build an appreciation for how we are the same and how we are different.

About my class
