I teach High school contextual English for sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Contextual English is either for students who struggle with one or more components of language arts or students who have failed a grade and are behind. These learners usually have a to some extent or another, attention deficit disorder problems. Studies have been done that prove that when these learners are comfortable, they will be more likely to relax, absorb the material, and participate in class. I find that when I give my students s comfortable place to sit. I even got a reluctant reader to take a turn reading! I have some alternative seating, but I need more to accommodate more learners. If I can get them seated comfortably, I know I can get them to finally believe what I've been telling them all along, that no matter what they've been told, they are smart, and they can learn and succeed!
