I am creating a higher-level class library that targets the need for my gifted students. We need books that exceed the reading level of those in our elementary school library. Many of these students need books at the 6-8th grade level or higher, if the content is appropriate. With these books, my students will be able choose books above their current reading level in order to continue growing as readers. I will be using a workshop approach as well as partner reading to enhance their enjoyment of reading and learning. Self-selection will be a major component of my program, as they will be more excited to read books that interest them.
