Stories play an important role in building empathy. Books open worlds, and minds. These texts will help students understand the stories and lives of people they may never meet face to face. Books allow us to experience worlds and expand our minds. Books open discussions and build bridges. I want my students to be a part of the discussions going on in the world and to be a part of building the bridges between societies. Allowing them access to the stories and experiences of others will help them become more empathetic individuals who will be able to take that empathy into their communities to bring about change.

About my class
