Since I have a wide range of learners and readers, this book is perfect to engage all levels. My students will enjoy the themes in Freak the Mighty. This novel tells the story of two kids with their own struggles who find each other and become fast friends. My students will be able to connect with the characters and see how differences make every person a unique contributor to their world. With bullying being so prevalent in today's schools, this book will teach kids to look beyond differences and find the gems hidden in every heart. Students will also appreciate the humor in the novel as the characters battle adversities.
