For this project students are working on merging their passions and their personal philosophy. The larger goal is for students to reflect on themselves and what motivates them. Since it is the end of their junior they will begin thinking about the college application process for next year. In our English classes we focus on writing expressive essays to help them with their college application essay. This passion project is an exploratory way for them to begin this process. They will research through multiple perspectives a passion they have and then they will merge it with their own personal philosophy about life. The journals we are requesting are the first step - students will spend time writing in the journals about what they observe in their own life in different context. They will write about what they experience and how they feel about the experiences. Eventually they will find patterns in their own life that will help them pick a topic to research. We are excited about giving them an opportunity to write freely and expressively in these journals since sometimes most academic writing can be pretty formulaic. We have no doubt our students will appreciate the journals and the opportunity to write creatively. ~Thank you!
