Imagine a classroom.....desks lined up in neat rows, library books tucked in the corner of the room, colorful decorations adorning the walls, and a big chalkboard stretching across the front of the classroom. Next imagine a classroom with sounds.........whispering students in the back of class, pencils tap tap tapping on desk, the buzzing sound of the color pencils being sharpened, and the clicking of chalk on the chalkboard. Now, can you imagine a teacher at the front of the classroom delivering instruction that will help you on an upcoming test? I don't know about you, but this is enough to distract even the most studious of students. Background noise, no matter how slight, is a constant struggle for my students who can be easily distracted by outside stimuli. It causes major difficulty when it comes to processing information and sorting the important from the unimportant. With the integration of noise-cancelling headphones, we hope that we can help our students block out some of that unnecessary noise.
