First grade is a crucial year for learning how to read. We spend lots of time reading together as a class and working on our phonological and phonics skills. Its important, however, to not only teach them the skills to read, but also to teach them to love reading as well. Your donation will help me to encourage a love of reading by creating a cozy and comfy place for my students to curl up with a good book. Students love having the opportunity to choose where they will read to them self and they get really excited when they have access to something comfortable and different. Not all of my students have access to a comfortable, quiet place to read at home and I believe these chairs will spark excitement in them and help them to feel safe and relaxed so they can build their love of reading.
