After school, our cozy corner is perfect for reading and calming down. It provides a safe and soft space for students to relax, take a minute for themselves, and finish up some homework. Since I've started adding things to our cozy corner, like sensory items, my students have basically overcrowded the space. The sensory items have been beneficial in helping children focus during homework time and wind down at quiet times. A small cabinet will be helpful to store these items in a more compact space that is still organized. After being in hard, uncomfortable chairs all day, I want students to come to after school and know this is a space where they can be calm, and relaxed, and unwind from the day. As opposed to feeling like they are "stuck in school" for 4 more hours. I would like to add a larger rug and some soft places to sit to encourage students to utilize the corner without being crammed together.
