I'm almost certain you were required to read all 300+ pages of Harper Lee's famous novel. Per the state department, my students are required to read To Kill a Mockingbird each year. I teach 10th grade, yet the average student reading level in my class is fifth grade. Recently, To Kill a Mockingbird graphic novel was published. Our school library has four copies and I noticed my students were actually reading the book! Having a class set would benefit my students. Students are able to grasp difficult themes; like racism, education and gender roles. The graphic novel brings the 1930's themes into the present.
