Our school grew dramatically when our neighboring school closed. Our newly expanded special education resource room needs some specialized gear to help students focus. We have a good supply of learning materials and books, but our space is not yet outfitted for students with special needs. Students need safe and calm ways to get their wiggles out. It's hard to focus when you have excess energy and a constant need to move! Specialized seating will help students to move in ways that are safe, and less distracting to their classmates. Other items on our list will help students to manage their belongings. Binders will keep our assignments organized. A good pencil sharpener will make much less mess. Dividers will help us to keep our eyes on our own work.
