This project has the potential to vastly increase my students learning abilities. Sensory play can promote the development of nerve connections to and within the brain. It fosters cognitive growth and encourages children to develop the fine motor skills required to carry out day to day tasks. Sensory play also helps children develop and enhance long-term memory functions and problem solving skills. The more sensory, hands-on activities my students complete on a daily basis, the better equipped they will be for making gains in areas that lead to increased independence and the successful completion of everyday tasks. Learning is a life-long process for everyone, but especially for these students. Sensory activities are some of my students' favorites and are often the best way to get them fully engaged. These are some of the best possible tools for making learning fun for all of our special friends with a variety of disabilities, who deserve nothing but our best!
