Overall, I feel these new materials could make a huge difference in my students’ learning and language development. As a speech-language technician working with a wide range of students (aged preschool through sixth grade), I feel these new materials would provide new learning experiences and new opportunities for learners of every age and skill level. The new materials would also serve as great resources in individualizing and differentiating therapy sessions in order to meet the needs of each individual student I work with. For example, some of the preschool materials I have requested would help promote language development through providing my preschool students the opportunity to engage in play therapy, while some of my requested language games would target higher-level language skills such as, defining multiple-meaning words and making inferences from a passage. Through gaining a variety of new materials, such as through this donation, students’ opportunities for continued learning and language development are greatly expanded and enhanced. These new materials would provide new opportunities for students to continue to build upon and strengthen their foundation of skills and knowledge. Most importantly though, having a wider variety of resources to use when teaching students target communication skills will help to peak student interest, increase engagement in learning, and lastly, will help to show students that learning is both meaningful and fun.
