93% of our student population qualifies for free & reduced meals. They rarely see themselves in the texts they read. At Eastside, we feel this is important so that we can demonstrate that kids and families exactly like themselves go through similar experiences and use said experiences for the good. In addition, it just makes kids feel a sense of belonging when their library provides them with books that have a true representation of them as people! We believe texts such as these will create an interest in our students to read more.

About my class
