Each scholar in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each scholar's needs are met, right where they are! Desk dividers and expo markers support this goal! With that being said, my scholars' favorite way to learn is through PLAY and EXPLORATION! We will use a sensory table to learn academic skills along with social skills. Having dramatic play items to use in the classroom, children learn to work with others toward a shared goal. Through play, scholars learn to be assertive, negotiate, cooperate and share. This collaborative skill is important in developing social skills and building friendships.
